Mobile Fall Protection Carts: Compare the Raptor Lineup
Leading Edge Safety mobile fall carts provide portable anchorage for crews working on approved surfaces. The right system depends on how many workers need fall arrest, how many need fall restraint, the required storage configuration, the listed product weight, and the specific roof or substrate.
The short answer is:
- Choose TriRex for the largest crew capacity: up to three workers in fall arrest and two in fall restraint.
- Choose R-2000 for a mid-size crew that needs two fall-arrest and two fall-restraint connections plus integrated storage.
- Choose Saber for compact multi-user coverage, Safety Bull for two-worker fall arrest, X-Calibur for a single worker, or Safety Gator for up to six workers in fall restraint on approved steep-slope applications.

How to Choose the Right Mobile Fall Cart
Start with the work plan, not the cart size alone. Evaluate:
- Crew configuration - count workers who need fall arrest separately from workers who will remain in fall restraint.
- Surface and roof assembly - confirm the product is approved for the substrate and whether the application reduces worker capacity.
- Fall clearance and edge exposure - select compatible connectors and leading-edge-rated SRDs where required.
- Storage and transport - compare integrated job boxes, removable counterweights, cart weight, and access to the work area.
- Complete-system compatibility - follow the cart manual, connector instructions, rescue plan, and competent-person assessment.
Which Cart Fits Which Crew?
TriRex
The highest-capacity fall-arrest cart in the lineup, with 20 cu ft, 20 + 10 cu ft, and dual 20 cu ft job-box configurations for larger crews and equipment-heavy jobs.
R-2000
A mid-size cart for up to two workers in fall arrest and two in fall restraint, available with 20 cu ft, 20 + 10 cu ft, and dual 20 cu ft job-box configurations.
Saber
A compact cart for up to two workers in fall arrest and one in restraint, using removable counterweights rather than an integrated job box.
Safety Bull
A modular two-worker fall-arrest option with an available job box, material rack, side rails, and counterweights.
X-Calibur
The single-worker fall-arrest option for crews prioritizing a compact footprint and removable counterweights. Safety Gator is the restraint-only choice for up to six workers on approved steep-slope applications.
Fall Arrest and Fall Restraint Are Not Interchangeable
Fall restraint is designed to prevent a worker from reaching a fall hazard. Fall arrest is designed to stop a fall after it begins. Only connect to the attachment points identified for the intended system, and never count a restraint-only connection as a fall-arrest anchorage.
Mobile Fall Cart Frequently Asked Questions
SEE ALL FAQSThe TriRex supports the largest combined fall-arrest crew in the Leading Edge Safety lineup, accommodating up to 3 workers in fall arrest and 2 in fall restraint (5 workers total). For restraint-only operations, the Safety Gator accommodates the largest crew, supporting up to 6 workers in fall restraint on approved substrates.
Yes. Mobile fall cart capacities can decrease depending on the substrate, particularly on concrete or smooth membranes where friction coefficients differ from standard metal decking or built-up roofing. Leading Edge Safety provides a dedicated Substrate Capacity Chart indicating worker limits for concrete, TPO, EPDM, and steel decks. Always consult the specific cart's operator manual and technical bulletins prior to tie-off to verify active OSHA-compliant fall-arrest and restraint limits for your surface.
The TriRex and R-2000 mobile fall carts feature integrated heavy-duty job boxes:
- TriRex & R-2000 (-02 configuration): Include two integrated job boxes providing 30 cu. ft. of total storage (one 20 cu. ft. box plus one 10 cu. ft. box).
- Safety Bull: Features modular/add-on storage options rather than a fixed frame box.
- Saber & X-Calibur: Designed for ultra-compact mobility and do not include integrated job boxes.
A: No. The Safety Gator is strictly a fall-restraint system and is not engineered or rated for fall arrest. It provides tie-off anchors for up to 6 workers in fall restraint, keeping workers from reaching an unprotected roof edge. Do not attach fall-arrest lanyards to the Safety Gator.
